Low income

This indicator shows the percentage of people living in households that have an equivalised disposable income (after housing costs) below the median income.

Equivalized disposable income is what is left of a household's  total income, after tax, that is available for spending or saving.

The term 'equivalised' means household incomes have been adjusted to account for different household sizes and composition. For example, large households are likely to need larger incomes to reach the same standard of living as smaller households.

Data for this indicator will be available in early 2020.
